The venue is Sabanci University's Karakoy Center, at the heart of old Istanbul.


There are many hotels nearby, distributed to famous historical and shopping
areas of Istanbul. If requested, LOC will be happy to arrange you an accommodation
based on your preferences. Please e-mail astrons@sabanciuniv.edu for accommodation
requests.

Sultanahmet area is the most famous historical region with many hotels. It is
only 5-10 minutes with 'tram'. Taxi would also be cheap. The Richmond Hotel is up
the hill at Beyoglu area, and linked to Karakoy with the 'tunel', a historic carrier.



Above, you san see the satellite image of the area. The red circle shows the conference venue. If you come via 'TUNEL' from Richmond, turn left towards the Galata Bridge and follow the path shown above. If you are coming with the TRAM from Sultanahmet, the venue is right in front of you when you get off at Karakoy station. There will be a security officer at the gate, just mention ASTRONS. After you register inside you will be given badges.

SABANCI DORMS

Alternatively, you may chose to stay at Sabanci University Dorms, which will be provided for free. The dorms are clean, one person per room (except students may be placed 2 per room). Each room has its own bathroom. Each room has internet connection and the Campus has eating and sports facilities.

     

HOWEVER, as shown in the map below, the workshop venue and the campus are very far away from each other. In fact, with no traffic it takes an hour by car to reach to Karakoy from Sabanci Campus. There is no public transportation to the Campus, and the shuttle services are limited especially in the summer.  We will provide a private shuttle in the morning and in the evening. Unless you have strong limitations on your budget, we recommend that you stay in a hotel in the city to make the best of this workshop and the conference.
