Information for Visitors

MER positions:
More experienced researchers (10 years after BS) from Europe can be recruited as visiting scientists for up to 6 months under a fixed stipend
determined by the FP6 rules. The minimum amount of stay is 15 days. Within the project duration (2006 - 2010 December) an MER MUST stay at least 2 months at Sabanci (preferably longer). A one time travel allowance is also paid, which depends on the distance between the origin and Istanbul.

MER visitors are expected to do research with the faculty and interact with the students of the Astrophysics and Space Forum. The research subject may be
any aspect of neutron star science and/or astrophysical instrumentation.  At the end of the visit, the MERs are required to write a short report summarizing their activities. These reports are used in the yearly reports to the Commission.

If you are interested in visiting MER position under ASTRONS, please visit the open positions page.

Accommodation:
If you are planning to arrive with your family, you need to let us know well in advance to try to secure a visitor faculty housing in campus. The number of such houses are limited.
Another option for families is the hotel in campus. If neither a visiting faculty nor a hotel room is available, the staff at Sabanci will help to find a suitable out of campus housing.

If you are not arriving with family you can stay at the hotel or the guesthouse in the dorm. Number of guesthouses is also limited.

In any case, the accommodation options must be discussed well in advance and reservations must be made earlier.
